Yair Klartag
Yair Klartag was born in 1985 in Israel. He has studied computer science and music composition at Tel Aviv University and Basel Music Academy. His main composition teachers have been Ruben Seroussi and Georg Friedrich Haas. At present he is a doctoral candidate in composition at Columbia University.His compositions have been performed by ensembles such as Munich Chamber Orchestra, Tokyo Sinfonietta, Ensemble recherché, JACK Quartet, Mivos Quartet, Ensemble Phoenix Basel, Ensemble Proton Bern, Ensemble Zafraan (Berlin), "Meitar" ensmble (Israel) and others.He received several awards and scholarships: 31st Irino Prize (Japan), 1st place at the "I International Composition Competition Ireneu Segarra" (Spain), 2nd place at "7ème Concours Dutilleux" (France), Audience Prize at "Isang Yun Composition Competition" (S. Korea), 2nd place at "SCCM international composition competition" (China), 3rd place at "Arioso Musica Domani International Composition Prize" (USA), "Klon" scholarship from Israel Compoers' League, as well as AKUM prize, STV-KHS Studienpreis and the Schweizer Bundesstipendium.
