WHY SUPPORT MATA?
MATA is incredibly grateful for the support we have received since our inception in 1996 as a grass-roots festival with lots of heart. Since then MATA has become the leading new music festival of its kind in New York City because of patrons like you. You are what keeps us going!
Did you know?
• MATA supports over 80 artists annually
• All artist fees were doubled in 2021 to move us toward a more fair and equitable pay scale
• We created a new annual Artist-In-Residence position in 2021 to ensure MATA’s programming is as diverse and unique as possible
• Ticket sales account for only 4% of our annual budget
• The majority of our annual events are free and open to the public or “pay what you can”
• Artist fees total over $90,000 annually
• MATA functions with one part-time Executive Director, one part-time Operations Associate, and a Board of Directors
Where are we headed?
With your growing support, MATA can increase our programming and provide even more opportunities to sound artists across the globe.
By 2025 we hope to…
• Increase our operating budget from $188,000 to $250,000
• Hire one additional part-time staff member
• Increase our marketing budget to expand our reach
• Continue to raise our artist fees to fair and equitable rates
