Cecilia Lopez
[audio:Chapas Escalada.mp3|titles=Chapas Escalada]Cecilia López was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1983. She is a composer, pianist and keyboardist. Her works range over composition and improvisation, as well as investigation and creation of non- conventional instruments. Her search in music has to do with acoustics and investigation of resonant materials.She studied piano and composition with Carmen Baliero, Gustavo Ribisc, Lucía Maranca, Mono Fontana and improvisation with Wenchi Lazo. In 2009 she attended to a residency at Atlantic Center for the Arts with master artist Elliott Sharp. In 2011 she took part of Ostrava Days Institute.She is currently working on her piece “Música Mecánica para Chapas” a composition/installation for amplified sheets of metal and variable performers. This piece has been performed at several venues in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and also at Floating Points Festival, Issue Project Room (NYC), Douglas Street Music Collective (NYC), Pieter Performance Art Space (L.A.) and Ostrava Days Festival 2011 (Ostrava, Czech Republic).Artistic collaborations include Lobi Meis, Wenchi Lazo, Carmen Baliero, Calos Vega, Gerardo Cavanna, Guillermina Etkin, Barbara Togander, Jacob Wick, David Kant and visual artist Ian Kornfeld.
