He has received commissions from the International Contemporary Ensemble, the Ojai Festival (for Eighth Blackbird and an installation by sound-sculptor Trimpin), Ethos Percussion Group, Concert Artists Guild, and the Moving Theater Dance Company, and received awards from the Jerome Foundation, American Music Center, MTC's Commissioning Music/USA, Argosy Foundation, ASCAP, and the ISCM. Nathan's music has been performed in the U.S., Canada, Cuba, Europe, Scandinavia, and China, in NYC's Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Symphony Space, Roulette, LPR, and The Stone, and is available on his solo electroacoustic percussion cd, Memory Spaces, on flutist Claire Chase's debut Aliento, and on a forthcoming monograph release from ICE. He tours extensively in the cello/percussion duo Odd Appetite and is a member of ICE, and he has recorded for Mode, Tzadik, New Albion, Bridge, and Cold Blue record
