Johan Svensson
Johan Svensson (b. 1983) is a Swedish composer, working in the field between acoustic and electronic music within settings ranging from solo works to symphony orchestra, focusing on chamber music. With a certain interest in instrumental mechanics as well as exploring the relation between sound and physical action, his music often include alternative ways of producing sounds with electronic means, for example with computer controlled solenoid robots. He is the artistic leader and a founding member (as composer and performer) of the ensemble Mimitabu. He is also leading projects involving workshops and concerts with young musicians.Johan studied composition at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz, Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg and in several masterclasses and courses like Darmstädter Ferienkursen für neue Musik and Impuls academy, with teachers such as Klaus Lang, Pierluigi Billone, Beat Furrer, Asbjørn Schaathun and Ole Lützow-Holm.His music has been performed at ULTIMA Oslo contemporary music festval, MANCA, Nordic Music Days and Sound of Stockholm by Ricciotti ensemble (Amsterdam), Norwegian Radio Orchestra (Oslo) and Athelas Sinfonietta (Copenhagen) among others.
