Du Yun
Born and raised in Shanghai, China, and currently based in New York, Du Yun is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and performance artist, working at the intersection of orchestral, opera, chamber music, theatre, cabaret, pop music, oral tradition, visual arts and noise. Described by the New York Times as “an indie pop diva with an avant-garde edge,” and “flamboyant” by the Chicago Tribune, she is currently on the composition faculty at SUNY-Purchase. Du Yun’s music, called “riveting” by The Financial Times, can be heard on the New Focus, Oxingale and Deutsche Grammophon labels.
