Alexander Kaiser

Screen Shot 2016-02-24 at 1.28.09 PMAlexander Kaiser is a composer from Italy (b. 1985), currently living in Vienna. His musical education began at the age of 8 with drum lessons. Later he studied electric guitar, piano and singing. At the age of 15 he started his first punk rock band where took over the role as lead singer and lead guitarist. Gradually he concentrated increasingly on composition and started his studies at Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna with Christian Minkowitch. After receiving his composition degree in Vienna he pursued advanced studies in composition with Prof. Beat Furrer at University for Music and Arts in Graz and in Vienna with Prof. Minkowitsch. Additionally to his composition studies Alexander Kaiser started a study in musicology at the University of Vienna where he is currently working on his master thesis about “the development of Alexander Scriabin’s piano sonatas”. Throughout the last years he participated in a couple of master classes and received lessons from Georg Friedrich Hass, Peter Ablinger, Jörg Widmann, Dieter Ammann, Isabel Mundry, Clemens Gadenstätter and Lucia Ronchetti. His music has been premiered, presented and commissioned by festivals, institutions and ensembles, such as the Konzerthaus Wien, Vienna International Saxfest, Radiokulturhaus Wien, Transart Festival and Gustav Mahler Musikwochen. He visited the Donaueschinger Musiktage 2009 and 2011, the Impuls Acadamy in 2013 and 2015 and was a three times finalist at the Ö1 Talentebörse Kompositionspreis 2011, 2013 and 2014.
