Alicia Erlandson (b. 2004); Michigan

Alicia Erlandson (b. 2004, Detroit, MI) is an emerging composer and a rising senior of Ferndale High School’s class of 2022. She has been playing flute for seven years and has been studying under Stacey Jamison since 2019. She’s participated in multiple festivals, such as the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association’s Solo & Ensemble District Festival, and has been a member of the Ferndale High School Golden Eagle Marching Band for five seasons. Alicia started composing music in March 2020 and recently attended the Young Women Composers Camp, where she studied with Flannery Cunningham and premiered a work for cello and voice that explored deconstructed text. She also participated in the Great Plains Composers Workshop in September 2021, where she wrote a solo for clarinetist Rachelle Goter from the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, and she currently studies composition with Michael Maiorana.
