Job Description: Operations Associate, MATA

Music at the Anthology, Inc. (“MATA”) is a small non-profit organization that promotes and presents experimental and contemporary classical music.  Our activities include an annual international Festival of New Music, which takes place in New York City every spring; our MATA Jr. pre-college educational program; our MATA Presents initiatives, individual concert and sound art events that take place throughout the year; and our annual MATA Honors Gala.  MATA is seeking an operations associate to assist with marketing, fundraising and social media, in addition to assorted administrative.  The program associate will report directly to MATA’s Executive Director, and will assist with all activities that further MATA’s mission.   This role requires someone open-minded, flexible,  and passionate about new music.  This a part time position, with additional hours during events.

Responsibilities include:

-Work with Executive Director to develop and implement marketing strategies.

-Alongside Executive Director, design and produce publicity materials

-Maintain MATA’s website and social media accounts

-Maintain MATA’s donor database and organizational mailing lists

-Coordinate with key personnel to create production schedules for MATA events

-Assistance with administrative tasks related to daily organizational operations


Experience and Personal Qualities:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least two years operations or administrative experience with a presenting organization, or equivalent concert production experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and passion in the fields of music and the performing arts
  • The ability to establish and handle priorities and to maximize resources, with proven experience prioritizing multiple assignments and meeting tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of and contacts within the greater NYC arts community
  • Willingness and ability to work and attend evening and weekend performances and events
  • Experience with WordPress and Mailchimp preferred.

Commitment: 15-20 hrs/wk, with additional outside work during festival week
